This weekend was the start of the Season of European classics getting out of their hibernation. So I took the Porker to meet with some fellow Porsche-nuts to an old town build around a Fortress: Geertruidenberg. I’ve shot some pics and thought I’d share some (unedited, raw material). Jetzt geht’s los (pic heavy)!!!
After coffee we went to do a small tour in the area surrounding Geertruidenberg, the start was from within the Fortress itself.
Somehow I can’t imagine that being healthy with all those fumes but hey...
And yes: fellow classic car owners enjoyed the lovely weather so you run into others. And yes: the guy in front of me had his two German Pinchers on his back seats.
So many Porsches that day, even on the way home... Tschüss!

Nice pictures. Well at least somebody did something with the nice weather we had last weekend, I was stuck at work. What kind of Porsche do you have btw, a G-model?

Thanks. The weather was amazing, working in weekends like these suck! Mine’s a Grand Prix Weiss 1987 Carrera 3.2 Coupe (the one on the 7th picture). So yes: last of the G-models.

Oh, nice, have never really been a big fan of G-models, mostly because of the safety bumpers. But yours looks nice, the contrast of the black on the white really works.

I’d settle for that silver “plain” GT3 in a heartbeat as well. Or that 997 Sport Classic. Or that 964 “30 Jahre”. Or that Orange GT3 RS. Or that race-ready 1975 911S. Does it show I like Porsches?

It was the car of/in my youth. White is great with those black Fuchs’s. Maybe my 2002 tii touring (work in progress) is more on your turf looking at your avatar ;-)

Wow impressive, I do really like the look of 02 tourings. I surely want to see that one when it is finished! Well my ‘turf’ is kinda large, everything from quirky french cars to older german cars and about everything inbetween. Though I do have a soft spot for rotaries, BMW and Renault (only have the last one right now).

The Touring is the one to get. I’ve documented it a bit on Oppo , been a while since the last update (verhuizing/verbouwing) though ;-)
We’re definitely on the same turf then, after the 2002 is ready a French project will be initiated (I think a Bagheera). And I’m the founding father of French Friday on LaLD ! If you’re ever bored on a regenachtige zondag some of these posts can be interesting.

In the middle of the top part of the Triangle Den Bosch - Eindhoven - Nijmegen, in a small village called Nistelrode. I remember talking about the Pal-V factory in Raamsdonksveer, so I guess you are from somewhere around Raamsdonksveer, though I could be wrong?

That was a great show. Did they let that orange GT3 RS out of the truck? That thing is awesome. I love the yellow lenses on those 2 white cars, too. Your Porker looks good next to that silver fried egger.

04/13/2016 at 04:56 | 1 |
Next year your mum can team up! The orange RS didn’t leave that truck, not when I was around anyway. But that’s probably my favorite. And that 964 “30 Jahre”. And that Sport Classic. So many good things...
Good spotting sir!

She’d love that. Such a beautiful locale for a show. I actually should find her a Porsche meet in her area so she can see the Porker lifestyle. Is the Sport Classic the off-white one with the orange stripe? I feel like you’ve shown me pictures of that car before. Does it live in your area? I see one 924. Were they any other non-911's?
Jobjoris
> Jonee
04/13/2016 at 18:08 | 1 |
There was one nearby your site last weekend if I read it all good . Nope, the Sport Classic is that Belgium one with the neo-Fuchs’s. The orange striped one I had not seen before. But made gigantic impression on me. Bonus pictures!
There was more than just 911's. The only one I didn’t spot was a 968. And the obvious 959, Carrera GT and 918's of course.
Jonee

04/14/2016 at 00:01 | 1 |
Oh yeah. I forgot that was going on. Some incredible cars it looks like. Too bad it didn’t happen last month when she was here.
I love the way that car looks. It’s awesome. Is it off-white, or grey? Do they call it something special?
How were the 928's?
Jobjoris
> Jonee
04/14/2016 at 03:59 | 1 |
It’s light-grey. It was a US imported 911S from 1975. And they just gave it Carerra RS looks.
I’ve only seen one 928 S4. These are getting really rare, the 928s!
Jonee
> Jobjoris
04/15/2016 at 01:06 | 1 |
Did you not get that 911S over there? I love what they did with it. Now I’ll have to convince my mother to get that paint job on hers.
Really? Plenty of 928's here. I think you need to rescue one of those, too, then. Save the 928's!
Jobjoris
> Jonee
04/16/2016 at 06:39 | 1 |
Oh we did. Just once in a while the Euro-dollar currency rates were really good and cars are cheaper over there anyway so some of those make their way back home to Europe.
I tried to save a 928 before. Talking about money pits...
Jonee

04/18/2016 at 01:06 | 1 |
Oh, right. I remember your 928 money pit. You did get to drive the Ring in it, right? I’m surprised I never dragged one home.
Jobjoris
> Jonee
04/18/2016 at 02:39 | 1 |
Yes, my first Ring-experience ever was in my beloved doglegged 928S. I always get excited if you want to get an odd & obscure car but better stay away from these.
Jonee

04/19/2016 at 14:29 | 1 |
Maybe when my ship comes in I’ll find a well sorted one. I think it was my first “favorite car,” so I should satisfy the 7 year old me if I have the means. Or, maybe I’ll put an AMC straight 6 in one. That would amuse me and horrify any 928 purists out there.
Jobjoris
> Jonee
04/19/2016 at 17:14 | 1 |
What about a M57TUD30 BMW 6-cylinder diesel engine in that 928 of yours. That way it’s still Teutonic. And you win some Nm’s: 400+!!!
Are there any 928 purists out there anyway? Dutch Opponaut Section38 has a 928!
Jonee
> Jobjoris
04/21/2016 at 04:33 | 1 |
Well, I want to put a Pacer engine in it because they look the same. It would be a joke only I would find amusing. Maybe instead I should do a Wankel.
Maybe you can visit his if you miss yours.
Jobjoris
> Jonee
04/21/2016 at 08:25 | 1 |
Good call. And those AMC engines are bullet-proof, right? Then better skip on that Wankel.
I miss it. But I’ve found a far more capable replacement so it’s bearable. Section38 seems to be MIA a bit. Had awesome shots of his genormous casts.
Jonee
> Jobjoris
04/22/2016 at 01:39 | 1 |
Probably more bullet-proof than the Porsche engine. And the Wankel, yeah. I could call it the Nine Twenty-acer.
Why kind of ginormous casts?

I got it like 6 or 7 years ago. So after I got my own. A guy at a customer’s had a diecast webshop for a while, he got it cheap for me. These go for almost 200 euros now.

I DO NEED THAT ONE! Love that “Junior” on the side as well.
She did try an F430 once.
That one came with flappy paddles though so she didn’t want it in the end.
Jonee

04/28/2016 at 02:36 | 1 |
That Junior decal is awesome. It’s a pretty cool kids’ car. I would have flipped for that thing when I was little.
Flappy paddles is a nice touch, but that windshield seems problematic. How come she wasn't interested? Too Italian?
Jobjoris
> Jonee
04/28/2016 at 04:56 | 1 |
Same here!
Of course she wasn’t interested. Do you see any room left for Pepe?
And she was afraid of the maintenance cost for this Italian awesomeness.
Jonee
> Jobjoris
04/29/2016 at 01:21 | 1 |
Ah, of course. Poor Pepe.
She has a good head on her shoulders. Just replacing those headlights probably costs a fortune. You should see if you can find her one of these. She can work on it herself. Or, get Pepe to do the maintenance stuff. They’re dead simple.

Ha. That’s pretty funny. Someone should really build that. Those wipers don’t look too effective. I found a kids’ one made of actual 2CV parts. Maybe you can commission one of these.

Jobjoris

05/04/2016 at 04:45 | 1 |
No idea, probably just a Daihatsu Rocky or something. We had a lot of conversions, this is a famous one:
I probably told you about Maarten’s C-Kadett with the Opel Rekord engine. Some of his classmates (automotive school) put an Alfasud drivetrain up on front of a 2CV, that was wicked!
Jonee
> Jobjoris
05/05/2016 at 00:07 | 1 |
That’s very cool. It fits in there nice and snug. Does it still power the front wheels? This is what someone had to do to get a Chevy V8 in an R4.
Wow, an Alfasud drivetrain is a great idea. That sounds hilariously fun. I guess anything fairly small and fwd would squeeze in.
Jobjoris
> Jonee
05/05/2016 at 05:08 | 1 |
The V8 is a completely different chassis with RWD layout. That R4 reminds me of the Golf on a 928 platform, radical! Have to show that one to Rudi tomorrow...
The Alfasud was an excellent idea. If I remember correct it was a fairly easy built. The complete drivetrain was some sort of subframe they had to cut out and mount on the 2cv chassis. So everything was a Sud upfront: engine, transmission but stuff like suspension as well. It even was street legal which can be tough to get around here if you mount a different number of cylinders.
Jonee
> Jobjoris
05/06/2016 at 02:02 | 1 |
Yeah, it reminds me of that widebody Golf, too. I’d like to see them in a race.
That does sound fairly easy up to the suspension part. How would you adapt the 2CV suspension for that, I wonder, since it goes front to back.
Jobjoris

05/06/2016 at 06:28 | 1 |
I have no idea, it’s just something Maarten’s told me. I’ll ask him. It’s been over 15 years though.
